Chris no longer holds active insurance licenses and does not sell insurance through this site. His role draws on his prior professional experience to review educational content; it does not include individualized insurance recommendations or advice.
Experience grounded in life insurance
Chris entered the life insurance industry in 2004. His work included selling coverage, helping consumers compare carriers, building insurance agencies and websites, and addressing underwriting challenges. He worked with applicants whose age, health conditions, medical histories, or other circumstances could make affordable coverage more difficult to obtain.
He founded Huntley Wealth Insurance and co-founded JRC Insurance Group. His experience also includes serving as President and Co-Founder of Life Insurance Shopping Reviews and as an original co-owner of Insurance Dodo. These roles gave him experience with both insurance products and the questions consumers face when choosing coverage.
Building Insurance Blog by Chris
In 2008, Chris founded InsuranceBlogByChris.com to address consumer questions about coverage, underwriting, policy types, medical conditions, pricing, and carriers. Its content extended into high-risk applicants, policy features, and coverage strategies informed by the practical issues that arise in life insurance transactions.
The website grew to approximately 70,000 monthly visitors at its peak and generated thousands of consumer inquiries. Chris sold the business in 2018. That publishing experience informs his work here: understanding insurance is one part of the task, and explaining its distinctions clearly is another.
Published work and industry recognition
Chris contributed life insurance articles to Money.com on subjects including children's coverage, retirement strategies, insurance during the COVID-19 pandemic, and other consumer questions. Through the Forbes Finance Council, he published commentary on reducing life insurance costs and on financial and estate-planning uses of coverage, including policy laddering, underwriting differences, inheritance planning, and charitable giving.
The College Investor has identified Chris as a life insurance expert and used his expertise as an insurance reviewer. He has also appeared in insurance trade and financial publications discussing life insurance and online consumer insurance resources.
Other publishing and consumer-finance work
Chris was an original owner of Insurance Dodo alongside Mark Huntley and Dan Olson. The website published educational information across insurance categories, and historical third-party references identify him as an Insurance Dodo insurance expert.
He also co-founded Credit Knocks, a consumer financial education website covering credit scores, credit building, borrowing, and personal finance. Credit Knocks was subsequently acquired by FinMasters. This broader work adds context to insurance questions connected with household income, debt, mortgages, dependents, and retirement, while life insurance remains his deepest area of professional experience.
What Chris reviews for Life Insurance Consensus Index
Our research records how major AI platforms respond to the same life insurance scenarios. Chris helps interpret those findings by considering whether product descriptions are accurate, underwriting factors are missing, insurance terminology is clear, and general statements about eligibility or pricing could mislead a reader.
His experience is particularly relevant when an attractive recommendation depends on applicant details. Age, medications, family history, tobacco use, occupation, lifestyle, coverage needs, and carrier underwriting practices can change an individual's options. Chris helps ensure those qualifications remain visible in the published explanation.
Editorial review can challenge the reasoning behind an AI recommendation without replacing the recorded data. Chris does not choose a consensus winner or alter recommendation counts to reflect his personal preference. The dataset records what the platforms recommended; verification and editorial review help readers understand the result.
Current licensing status and scope
Chris is not currently a licensed insurance agent. His reviewer credentials are based on his prior licensed work, insurance-business experience, publishing history, and consumer education. Life Insurance Consensus Index does not represent him as a currently licensed insurance producer.
Through this site, he does not sell insurance, solicit applications, recommend a specific policy to an individual, or provide individualized insurance, legal, tax, investment, or financial advice. Content he reviews is provided for informational and educational purposes. Actual eligibility, premiums, and policy offers remain subject to an insurer's underwriting process.
How his review fits our editorial approach
Life Insurance Consensus Index combines recorded AI recommendations, factual verification using primary and authoritative sources, and experienced editorial review. Each contributes a different form of evidence. Chris's role is to identify missing context and practical limitations so readers can better understand what the research supports.
