Life Insurance Consensus Index is an independent research and educational publication owned and operated by 3D Chess Media, LLC, a Nevada limited liability company. We study life insurance companies, products, policy features, underwriting considerations, and AI recommendation patterns. This disclosure explains the scope of that research and the distinction between our editorial work and the services of licensed insurance producers.
Our role as a research publication
Our work may include standardized questions across AI platforms, records of carrier recommendations, comparisons of frequency and position, factual verification, educational explanations, and experienced editorial review. This helps readers understand the recommendation environment, but does not replace an application, quote, suitability assessment, or underwriting process.
Life Insurance Consensus Index and 3D Chess Media, LLC do not issue or service life insurance policies, underwrite applicants, bind coverage, approve or decline applications, set final premiums, assign underwriting classes, determine insurability, or pay claims. Those functions belong to insurers and other appropriately authorized parties.
Chris Huntley’s editorial role and licensing status
Chris Huntley is a former licensed life insurance agent and does not currently hold active insurance licenses. His nearly two decades of prior industry experience include work as an agent, agency owner, publisher, and consumer educator. He now serves as Life Insurance Expert & Editorial Reviewer; we do not represent him as a currently licensed producer.
His background includes founding Huntley Wealth Insurance and Insurance Blog by Chris, co-founding JRC Insurance Group, former co-ownership of Insurance Dodo, and life insurance writing for major financial outlets. His reviewer role draws on that prior experience.
Through this publication, Chris does not sell or solicit insurance, bind coverage, quote individual policies, accept premiums, determine underwriting classifications, approve or decline applications, act as your agent, or make individualized carrier recommendations.
What editorial review means
Chris may review terminology, policy descriptions, underwriting context, differences among carriers and policy types, broad eligibility or pricing statements, missing risks, and misleading generalizations. His review adds context while the recorded AI recommendation data remains the research record; his personal carrier preferences do not replace that data.
A “Reviewed by Chris Huntley” attribution does not mean he evaluated you, reviewed your medical history, selected a policy for you, acted as your agent, or determined that a carrier would approve you. Reading the website or sending a research question or correction does not automatically create an insurance-agent relationship with Chris, the publication, 3D Chess Media, LLC, or our staff and contractors.
Educational information and individual decisions
We do not determine how much coverage you need, which carrier you should apply to, which policy you should buy, or whether term or permanent insurance fits your financial plan. We also do not design a policy for your estate, tax, retirement, business, trust, charitable, or investment strategy.
These decisions depend on facts outside the scope of published research. We do not provide individualized insurance, legal, tax, investment, or financial-planning advice. Appropriate licensed or qualified professionals can help with those questions.
Eligibility, underwriting, and pricing
A carrier appearing in a study does not mean it will insure you. Eligibility and premiums may depend on age, health and medical history, prescriptions, height and weight, tobacco or nicotine use, family history, driving, occupation, aviation, scuba diving and other activities, finances, coverage amount, policy type and duration, state, and the carrier’s rules. Only the applicable insurer or its authorized process can determine the actual offer.
An AI recommendation is a research signal, not a quote, approval, contract, underwriting decision, or guarantee of eligibility, rate class, or suitability. Statements that a carrier is inexpensive or competitive are not personal quotes. Sample premiums may reflect a particular age, sex where applicable, nonsmoking profile, rate class, benefit amount, and term; your premium may be higher or lower.
Health conditions and carrier tendencies
Two people with the same condition can receive different offers. For diabetes, for example, relevant details can include type, age at diagnosis, A1C, medication and insulin use, complications, blood pressure, kidney function, weight, smoking, other conditions, and follow-up care. The same principle applies to other health and lifestyle risks.
Research about carriers that may be relevant for diabetes, cancer history, heart disease, tobacco use, aviation, scuba diving, DUI history, or other situations remains general. A carrier competitive for some applicants can still decline or postpone another application, request more information, offer a different policy, or charge a higher premium.
No-exam, simplified-issue, and guaranteed-issue policies
“No medical exam” does not mean guaranteed approval. Health questions, prescription reviews, electronic health information, medical records, motor vehicle records, or other data may still be used, and some applicants need additional underwriting. Accelerated underwriting may avoid a traditional exam for eligible applicants, but eligibility and rates still depend on the insurer and applicant.
Simplified issue may involve health questions, electronic databases, and underwriting review with a different medical process from fully underwritten coverage. Guaranteed issue may avoid traditional health qualification while involving lower face amounts, higher premiums, waiting periods, or graded benefits. Final expense or burial insurance is generally permanent coverage with modest benefits; its policy terms, underwriting, premiums, and waiting periods still matter.
Permanent insurance and policy projections
Whole life, universal life, and indexed universal life can involve guarantees, cash values, dividends, charges, crediting methods, flexible premiums, loans, no-lapse provisions, and riders. A general explanation cannot replace the actual policy.
Indexed universal life illustrations can depend on index performance, caps, participation rates, spreads, expenses, crediting methods, and loans. Non-guaranteed illustrated values are not promises. Future whole life dividends are generally not guaranteed merely because an insurer has paid them historically; distinguish contractual guarantees from historical experience, current scales, and future assumptions.
Current documents and state differences
Products and features can differ by state, including availability, forms, riders, issue ages, benefits, disclosures, and underwriting programs. A nationally discussed product may not be available on identical terms everywhere.
If our description differs from the actual policy, rider, endorsement, illustration, application, carrier disclosure, or other official insurer document, the applicable insurer documentation controls. Review the current documents before purchasing. Financial-strength ratings from organizations such as AM Best, Moody’s, S&P Global, and Fitch are opinions under their methodologies, can change, and do not guarantee future solvency, claims payments, or policy or investment performance.
Commercial relationships and rankings
We may receive compensation for links, requests for information or quotes, lead forms, purchases, or other qualifying actions. An affiliate, referral, advertising, or data relationship does not by itself make the publication an insurance agent, make 3D Chess Media an underwriter, or make Chris an insurance salesperson.
Compensation cannot buy AI votes, recommendation coverage or position, consensus scores, study or category rank, or changes to historical research. A company can appear in research and rank first without paying us, while an affiliate can rank poorly. Paid advertising and sponsored material should be distinguished from earned rankings.
Working with third parties
We may discuss or link to carriers, agencies, brokers, marketplaces, comparison services, or other partners. A link does not necessarily mean we own or control them, guarantee their services, or endorse every product. Third parties are responsible for their licensing, representations, services, privacy practices, and regulatory compliance.
When you leave this site to request a quote, contact an agency, or begin an application, the third party’s licensing, terms, disclosures, privacy practices, and application process govern that interaction. You may wish to confirm the producer’s identity, company, licensing, proposed policy, issuing insurer, and applicable disclosures. State insurance regulators can provide licensing and consumer information.
Protecting sensitive information
Do not send medical records, Social Security numbers, prescription records, detailed health histories, financial-account information, government identifiers, or sensitive application documents through ordinary contact channels unless we specifically provide an appropriate secure process. We do not need these details for ordinary research, editorial, or correction questions.
Our studies often use hypothetical profiles to make AI responses comparable. Those profiles do not describe every reader or replace an actual quote. When considering coverage, look beyond rankings to premiums, benefits, policy duration, guarantees and non-guaranteed provisions, conversion rights, riders, ratings, exclusions, underwriting results, and state-specific terms.
